Reddit people trying to run up the price of silver

Posted by John T. Reed on

So many of the Reddit pump-and-dump children decided to drive the price of silver up. I talk about bitcoin and stock picking because they are too large to ignore, but I have not studied bitcoin and will not—for the same reason I do not study Leprechans. I HAVE studied the stock and bond market a lot, but to learn lessons I could apply to real estate investment, not to invest in bonds (Agh! They are the road to hell in hyperinflation.) or stocks (we have index funds). The different categories of investments have made varying amounts of progress in the...

Costco in anticipation of hyperinflation

Posted by John T. Reed on

I went to Costco today—to stock up. . It was mobbed but their checkout is very efficient. . Any problems? Yes. I was buying barter items that we will use if somehow there is not hyperinflation or depression. One was I tried to buy four Calgon dishwasher detergent containers. They would only sell me one. . Posted by John T. Reed on

See how long you and your family can do this and how much fun it is. . • You may NOT spend any US cash (it will be worthless) • you may NOT use a check from a U.S. checking account (the money in the account will be worthless) • You may NOT spend any foreign cash (it will be illegal because of capital controls) • you may NOT pay your taxes other than with...

You need to stock up on barter items

Posted by John T. Reed on

I think those of us who are concerned about hyperinflation need to start building up a supply of BARTER items. There is a chapter on what the best ones are in my How to Protect Your Life Savings from Hyperinflation & Depression. Bullets suck It is NOT what many think. Bullets, for example, suck. For one thing, a ton of people already bought thousands of them. For another, there is too much variety in the guns owned and the type of bullets needed for each. For another, there seems to be a bias in favor of bullets still in the...
