John T. Reed’s review of the book The Coveted Black and Gold [U.S. Army ranger tab]

Posted by John T. Reed on

My birthday gift from my ranger buddy is a book about ranger school based on the diary of a West Point cadet who went there in June and July 1980 while he was a cadet on summer leave. My ranger buddy and I and about half of our West Point class went there in Class #69-3 in August, September and October of 1968..First, giving up your summer leave to go to ranger school strikes me as certifiable insanity. You have plenty of time to go through such crap after graduation. For my class, we got 2nd lieutenant pay and it...

Trump has an opportunity to beat Reagan; system change in North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, China, and maybe Russia, without firing a shot

Posted by John T. Reed on

A historic thing is happening, but no one is talking about it. America has a chance to defeat a whole lot of our long-time enemies. The enemies in question are horrifically weakened and ripe to be thrown out of office by their people:.They are: .North KoreaCubaVenezuelaIranChinaand maybe Russia..Trump could replicate and exceed Reagan’s winning the Cold War..Shots probably need to fired in Iran. .But in the rest of them, just demand they clean up their act and behave like peaceful, non-threatening, good neighbors. Cut them no slack. Make them behave like Switzerland or Japan or Canada. .How can anyone complain about that? Another...

I recently did a post saying that too many people are all excited about unimportant stuff that the media emphasizes and not excited enough about truly important matters. . I said judge and justice appointments are among the not-important things. A reader said he “begged to differ.” Fine. Tell me how Gorsuch and Kavanaugh have your life or mine since they were confirmed. So far, he offers nothing. . Like I said. . I cannot find a single US Supreme Court decision that changed my life since I turned ten years old in 1956. Yes, there has been a ton...

Cadet killed in ‘training accident’ at West Point

Posted by John T. Reed on

I got a text this morning that a cadet died at West Point and 20 other cadets and two trainers were hurt in a tip over of a five-ton Army truck..TV video seemed to show it happened on the highway from the West Point cadet area to Camp Buckner which is on the reservation west of the barracks, classrooms, and parade field..I was trained to be an Army truck driver at West Point during my first two months there. I got an Army drivers license. We drove deuce-and-a- half trucks---half the load-carrying capacity of a 5-ton..The training lasted half a...
