New 20th edition of Aggressive Tax Avoidance for Real Estate Investors is out

Posted by John T. Reed on

I finished the 20th edition of Aggressive Tax Avoidance for Real Estate Investors. It mainly includes the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

That book has sold over 100,000 copies since it first came out in 1981. I am currently getting bids to create the hard-copy paperback version. That will take about a month.

In the meantime, any orders we get for it will be printed and bound as a comb-bound book with my very own hands in my home office. A comb-bound book has 19 rectangular holes on the left side and a cylindrical plastic comb the teeth of which fit through the 19 holes. It is sometimes incorrectly called spiral bound. Spiral uses a wire shaped like a spring. I do not have that equipment.

Comb-bound books cost me more to make and are therefore less profitable to me. But they lay flat and can be folded over like a clipboard, so they are more useful than a paperback. But often, when a person gets a comb-bound book from me they are outraged at how “cheap” it is. Morons.

Again, it costs me more to make a comb-bound book than a paperback one. If either is “cheap” it is the paperback. But I can make the comb-bound fast, like right now. So if you insist on paperback, wait a month or so before ordering. When you see the word paperback instead of comb-bound an my product page, what you get will be paperback. If you want it now, and order it now and you will get comb-bound.

The 19th edition, which I sold until yesterday, is valid for doing your 2017 taxes. The Trump tax law stuff applies generally to your 2018 tax return that you file in 2019, not your current tax return.
