John T. Reed has coached 11 football teams—three, high school; and eight, youth..
He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association, the California Coaches Association, The National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Association, the American Baseball Coaches Association, The Football Writers Association of American, and the Professional Football Researchers Association. Reed is a West Point graduate and a Harvard MBA.

Since Coaching Youth Football by John T. Reed came out and became successful, two competing books have changed their titles to be the same as this book. One is the Rookie Coaches Football Guide, which has no author. It is published by the American Sports Education Program. The other was originally called A Parent’s Guide to Coaching Football by Jack McCarthy. They changed the title to A Parent’s Guide to Coaching Youth Football, but only print the words Coaching Youth Football on the front cover and spine. If you seek another copy or recommend this book to others, be sure to specify that you only want the Coaching Youth Football written by John T. Reed.
